10 For the one who has once entered His rest has also rested from [the weariness and pain of] his [human] labors, just as God rested from [those labors uniquely] His own. 11 Let us therefore make every effort to enter that rest [of God, to know and experience it for ourselves], so that no one will fall by following the same example of disobedience [as those who died in the wilderness].
Rest here is not speaking specifically to the Sabbath, I was making reference to speaking specifically to whatever day we cease to doing things our own way, and trust him implicitly.
The purpose of consecration is to reflect the light and the person of Jesus Christ. And the way to reflect him is by means of holiness. So the call of consecration is the call of holiness, holiness in conduct, holiness in speech, 2 Corinthians Peter puts it holiness in all manner.
The second call of consecration is for the presence of God to be in and among us, his people. Remember that God has declared that he is a holy God. That is his standard, that is his nature, that is his character, that is the standard where he begins and ends, he is holy. This holy God wants to dwell with his people, but he places a demand on us, and this demand is holiness.
